Man dies in fire at apartment complex in Penrith

PENRITH, NSW, Australia - A man has perished in a fire at an apartment complex in Penrith, at the foot of the Blue Mountains in far Western Sydney on Thursday.

The fire occurred mid-afternoon with emergency services called to the scene at Lethbridge Street, Penrith, around 2:45pm Thursday afternoon.

Reports had been received of a fire on a balcony of an apartment in the unit complex

Officers attached to Nepean Police Area Command, Fire and Rescue NSW and NSW Ambulance paramedics were quickly on the scene.

After the fire was extinguished the body of a man was located on the balcony. He is yet to be formally identified.

A crime scene has been established and an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fire is underway.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
