DPRK holds key party meeting with top leader attending

The Enlarged Meeting of the Twelfth Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) was held from June 21 to 23, with Kim Jong Un, general secretary of the WPK, presiding over the event, the official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) reported on Tuesday.

The meeting reviewed the implementation of party and state policies for this year, KCNA reported.

"The plenary meeting discussed ... the issues of radically accelerating the revitalization and modernization of major industrial sectors of the national economy," the report said. 

A decision on convening the Ninth Central Committee of the WPK was approved and measures were taken to hold it, KCNA added. The report did not say when it would be held.
